(1 )

(a ) Place l e ft hand on rig h t side of o c c ip it a l bone w ith
w ris t and forearm of l e f t arm d i r e c t l y over l e f t e a r . ( l ) As in Lesson
one exercise a.

(I-,) Be sure that lower part of h eel of righ t thumb and
hand i s ju st back of mastoid process of temporal b o n e .(6 )
Have palm of rig h t hand cupping ear on right sid e .

(c ) L i f t slack of head and neck and thrust hands ap art,
thus opening basilar suture (located just behind
mastoid and continues around lower part of o cc ip ital
bone.)

(d ) Anchor fingers on temporal bone.
(e) Give q uick, separating movement, thrusting hands in

opposite d ir e c tio n s . The right goes forward and up­
ward, the le ft goes backward and downward. When
properly e x e c u t e d , t h is movement or adjustm ent
separates the b a s i l a r su tu re s. To open the le f t
b a s ila r su tu re , sim ply reverse to the opposite s i d e .
T h is e x e rc ise can be in v a lu a b le to you because i t may
release the pressure that so o ften e x i s t s i n the mastoid
bone, causing headaches in that area.
